3 Axis Piezoelectric Acutated Gimbal
The project shown here is a novel three axis gimbal that we developed. This gimbal was used to ensure that any drone that entered into a defined air space could be quickly identified and tracked. To find drones, a third axis was incorporated into the design. This third axis allowed the device to very quickly scan large areas of the sky to find any object in this area. To get the needed speed to find fast flying drones, piezoelectric motors were used to actuate all three axes instead of traditional motor.
